Welcome to Echo Kitsune Atelier — a character-tech practice that started in Skyrim's modding scene and scaled into a solo-run studio under Neko Punch. We build 3D fashion series, ship production-grade characters, and publish the research behind it.
I'm Binh — Founder of Neko Punch Studio and Technical Character Artist (TA), a hybrid of sculptor, rigger, and shader engineer. Every character on this site, released or in-progress, moves through the same six-phase pipeline below. No template pass, no auto-retopo shortcut — each step is authored so the final asset runs clean on the hardware it was promised to.
Target framework (Skyrim / Unity / Unreal), body base, clothing modules, physics scope, performance envelope — locked before a single polygon is touched. A 1-page brief, a reference stack, an agreed delivery date.
Primary forms, secondary anatomy, fabric folds, damage, insignia — drawn and blocked out by hand inside Blender. No Marvelous Designer auto-cloth, no kitbash dump as a final. Volumes and edge flow are authored so the detail that survives retopo is budgeted from the start.
Manual retopology in Blender — loops that deform correctly, poly budget tuned to the target platform. UV unwrap with overlap packs for texel density. HPL + LPL exported to Substance Painter, where Normal, AO, curvature, and cavity maps are baked off the hi-poly.
Same Substance Painter file the bake landed in — hand-painted breakups and masking so the material reads on both cinematic and gameplay distances. Signature-line colour tokens applied last so the outfit can re-skin without a rebake.
Unity HDRP Shader Graph for the art- facing stack; HLSL when the graph can't go fast enough. Custom hair, eye, and cloth shaders profiled against the target device — if it costs 0.3ms it earns 0.3ms.
Cloth collision, constraint tuning, wind response, damping curves — a specialty with few practitioners in the region. QA pass in target engine, catalogue write-up, NexusMods / storefront upload, support thread opened.
